These trips are all run by the Down Under Dive Club a club associated with Orakei Dive Shop. If you wish to have the club newsletter emailed to you each month please click on this link.
Please note: (This is important for overseas's trained divers). You will be required to fill out a medical form prior to going on any of our trips. The form can be found here. As you will only be diving with us rather than training it does not need a doctor to sign it unless you answer yes to some of the medical conditions. If you do answer yes please contact us before booking on a trip. Please be honest. This does not apply to NZ trained divers as it is a requirement to obtain a doctors cert before training.
TRIP LIST
SUNDAY JANUARY 22nd. A three dive day at the ALDERMEN ISLANDS. Summer is here and it’s time to get wet. We’ll be back to three dives for those that want it. The Aldermen Islands are a very pretty dive, similar to the Poor Knights but with less driving and you are allowed to take a cray or two if that’s your thing. You’ll need 2 tanks and $10 but Jim will fill tank 1 while you use tank 2. The boat will leave from Tairua wharf at 8:30am. And the price is $130
WAITANGI WEEKEND FEBRUARY 2nd to 6th. Leaving Thursday 2nd evening 8pm (or earlier if possible), returning Monday afternoon. A four-day trip from Tairua on the Taranui. We will head to the MERCURY ISLANDS then up to GREAT BARRIER. Don’t forget you’ll need to take Friday off work. The price will be around $870, which includes food, and air fills. You’ll need a sleeping bag and two tanks. Diving at ‘The Barrier’ has something for everyone, lots of pretty stuff, lots of cray’s and two wrecks that are well worth a scavenge and the best thing is they both in shallow water. Also worth a mention for newer divers is that as it 4 days you can dive as much or little as you want. If people can get away early on Thursday we can leave earlier. SUNDAY FEBRUARY 12th. Diving at SAIL ROCK AND HEN ISLAND. We will have an open water course on the boat and all are welcome to join us for a couple of excellent dives. Both Castle Rock and Hen Island have some very pretty dive sites and with the chance of a cray or two as well. We will be meeting at Goat Island Dive shop at 9:00 and the boat will leave at 9.45. The cost of the trip is $130

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25th. Out with Goat Island Dive to GREAT BARRIER AND THE BROKEN ISLANDS. Summer is here and it’s time to get wet. A great dive site on a great boat. The boat will be leaving from Leigh at 8:45 but meeting at their shop at 8:00 am. The price is $150.
Please note: Due to the expense of chartering boats we will require a deposit when booking and the balance one week before the trip leaves. Failure to do so may mean you lose your spot without notice. Refunds will only be given if the trip is cancelled or we find someone to take your place. THIS MEANS YOU! Please contact the shop the day before and the morning of the trip for latest updates. We will have our answer machine on if closed.
