These trips are all run by the Down Under Dive Club a club associated with Orakei Dive Shop. If you wish to have the club newsletter emailed to you each month please click on this link.

Please note: (This is important for overseas's trained divers). You will be required to fill out a medical form prior to going on any of our trips. The form can be found here. As you will only be diving with us rather than training it does not need a doctor to sign it unless you answer yes to some of the medical conditions. If you do answer yes please contact us before booking on a trip. Please be honest. This does not apply to NZ trained divers as it is a requirement to obtain a doctors cert before training.

TRIP LIST

Remember we are out at the Poor Knights an training an awful lot but I don't often list the weekends here. If you are interested then call us and we'll see what we can arrange.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5th. CASTLE ROCK and somewhere coastal for a cray or two. Somewhere we don’t go too often. Castle rock is a mega drop-off with huge fish life. The coast around Tairua is good for cray’s so it’ll be a pretty and productive day we hope. All are nice easy dives though buoyancy control is handy at Castle Rock as it goes pretty deep but on a bit of a slope so although the opportunity is there for deep it is optional. The boat leaves Tairua wharf at 9:00am.and the trip costs $120

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 11th. A trip with Goat Island Dive to the MOKOHINAUS ISLANDS. These are sort of half way between Great Barrier and the Poor Knights so are well away from dirty coastal water. We'll meet at Goat Islands shop at 8:00am and it costs $140. This is not an exclusive Orakei trip so Goat Island Dive will be in charge not our DM's.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 26th. Another trip with Goat Island Dive to SAIL ROCK and HEN ISLAND. These are north of Goat Island up near the enterance to Whangarei Habour. We'll meet at Goat Islands shop at 9:00am and it costs $120. This is not an exclusive Orakei trip so Goat Island Dive will be in charge not our DM's. DO NOT forget, daylight savings starts today

SUNDAY OCCTOBER 10th. Diving ALDERMEN ISLANDS with Jim on the Taranui. Still two dives a day so we get back home before dark (after dark if you’re driving a heap of s*%t like what I do). The Aldermen Islands are very similar to the Poor Knights with lovely clear water and a large variety of dive sites so we’ll be able to find a site that suits everyone and all experience levels of diving. Leaves 9:00 am from Tairua wharf and costs $120

SATURDAY OCTOBER 16th. A three dive day at the POOR KNIGHTS Bruce on with Crazzee Diver. As there will be three dives space will limited to 8 people so be quick, this one filled up quick last time. We will be running an advanced course at the same time so the dive locations will be varied with something to suit everyone. The price of the trip is $140 and you will need 3 tanks. We will be staying in ' The Barn' and you are welcome to join us ($15 a night, bring a sleeping bag). If you're coming for both days Bruce will refill two of your tanks for day 2 for $8 each. The boat will leave at 8:30 am from Tutukaka.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 17th. A two-dive day at preferably the WRECK OF THE WAIKATO or if the weather doesn't suit THE POOR KNIGHTS. Once again with Bruce on with Crazzee Diver and once again We will be running an advanced course at the same time. The price of the dive is $110 and as per yesterdays trip you can stay in 'The Barn' and you are welcome to join us ($15 a night, bring a sleeping bag). The boat will leave at 8:30 am from Tutukaka

NOVEMBER (begining of somewhere) A hard hat day in the pool. We did this in September (with a select group as a tryout) and it was awesome fun. The cost will be about $50 with most of it going the the hard hat passn of NZ. It will take a good chunk of the day (well 3 or 4 hours) as dressing up takes a while. Take it from me it's heaps of fun, easy and HEAVY (literally). Let us know if your interested and we'll put you names down.

Please note: Due to the expense of chartering boats we will require a deposit when booking and the balance one week before the trip leaves. Failure to do so may mean you lose your spot without notice. Refunds will only be given if the trip is cancelled or we find someone to take your place. THIS MEANS YOU! Please contact the shop the day before and the morning of the trip for latest updates. We will have our answer machine on if closed.
