35)Kaikoura Coast. Go swimming with dolphins or dive with seals. Heaps of shallow reefs in 10-12 meters.

36)Banks Peninsula. North side craggy rocky coastline and headlands. 20m average depth. Best in southerly conditions. V 0-10m. Sumner and Godley heads road 12km Christchurch, rocky shore, under cliff. 1-5m. Adderly Head to Pigeon Bay - sea 8km Lyttelton, rocky sea floor, some caves. V 19m. Akaroa sea or road 60km Lyttelton. This side of peninsula is free from silt and therefore is better diving. Reasonable diving at Magnet Bay, Tokoroa Bay, Tumbledown Bay and Te Oka Bay. Good diving under lighthouse. Damon's Bay to Flea Bay and Pompey's Pillar. V to 15m.

37)Chatham Islands. Beach diving, schooling fish, kelp and paua.
