NEW PADI e-learning open water course for beginners

PADI eLearning

First you will need a medical form (available from our shop or print off this page just hit the print button on your browser) signed by your doctor , we require this at the time you book.

The e-learning PADI openwatrer course allows convenient online access to knowledge development course material for one year, and unlimited and unrestricted lifetime access to an online version of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual. This means you can do the class work and complete knowledge assessments at your own pace. For help you can visit or contact us anytime during business hours. Payment is $US120 for eLearning via PADI's secure online payment system. There are additional charges for in-water training and equipment rental (see below).

Minimum Age is 13 years to sign up for the eLearning course.

You will need: A medical clearance from your doctor. Forms are available from our shop, or print off this page (just hit the print button on your browser), or download as a PDF file here. We require this at the time you book or if for some reason you do not pass you may loose some or all of your money.

PADI eLearning

Once you have completed the E-Learing the fun starts!

Costs- Joining one of our regular pool/sea training sessions this part of the course will cost either $NZ449 or $579 (depending on the location of the openwater dives) and will include enclosed and openwater training, full set of scuba equipment for the duration of the course (you will need your own mask snorkel, fins, boots and maybe gloves); PADI dive tables and log book, plus a open water manual or CD, PADI Gold Open Water certification card.

Pool: We have our own on site heated training pool. This allows for a lot less traveling to and from polls during the course of the evenings. Our pool complex comes complete with hot showers and hair dryers. Our pool has a good range of depths which will cover you throughout your enclosed water training where you will progress from the shallows to the deep end as your confidence and skills develop; and most importantly it has ample room so you need never feel crowded while practicing your newly acquired skills. You will also need to complete a 200 meter swim. There is no time limit so it should not be to difficult for most people. Also required is the ability to float for ten minutes.

. Option 1) Our premium Poor Knights e-learning option for $549. Usually driving to Tutukaka on Friday evening (some people opt for a early drive up Saturday morning) we stay both Friday and Saturday in 'The Barn' just down the road from the marina. There is no extra cost for this but you will need bedding. On Saturday and Sunday we cruise on a charter boat to the world-renowned Poor Knights Islands for two training dives each day. The Poor Knights are regarded as one of the worlds top dive sites which means you are learning to dive in one of the best classrooms in the world! In the event of the weather turning bad there are several options open to us, which we will discuss on the first day of the course or feel free to contact us earlier if you wish to know more. See also our Poor Knights Gallery.

Option 2) A less pricey $349 e-learning option. This is cheaper due to the fact there are no boat fees to be paid. On the Friday before the weekend you will pick up your scuba equipment from the shop then on Saturday morning head up to the Goat Island marine reserve at Leigh. The weekends of these courses are picked so as to coincide with high tides that suit us (this means less swimming to obtain adequate depth). Here you will do two dives, the first being purely a scenic dive with no skills to do. The second dive will be mostly 'Tiki Tour' as well but with a few skills to complete during the dive. After debriefing we will pack the cars and head back to the shop to collect 2 new full tanks then head home. On Sunday we will meet at Lake Pupuke for two dives where the rest of the dive skills will be done during two dives. After that there is a little paper work to do then its off home with the course completed. As Lake Pupuke is close to central Auckland this will be a short day.

Your course includes: Enclosed and openwater training, full set of scuba equipment for the duration of the course (excluding mask snorkel, fins, boots and gloves); open water manual, PADI dive tables and log book, PADI Gold Open Water certification card.

Your course does not include: Transport (we usually car pool). Your own mask, fins and snorkel (you may want booties and gloves too) Any extra tuition you may require. You will need: A medical form (available from our shop or print off this page just hit the print button on your browser) signed by your doctor , we require this at the time you book.

Other bits: If you drop by and see us we can give you more details or just ring us on (09) 524-2117 and we’ll be happy to post you a full information package including the medical form. Click here for course dates.

Two last things: Please do not be late for your classes. We cannot start without the whole course present. If you are late and the course has started without you then you will have to return for a catch up lesson and this will cost you more! Also attending the weekend booked is important as in the Poor Knights option a charter boat has been booked for you and we will be charged whether you are there or not. Failing to attend the weekend booked may cost you extra charter fees.
