PADI
5 Star Centre
Orakei
Dive shop is a PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) five
star facility. This means that we reach PADI's highest standard of excellence.
PADI is the largest dive training institution both worldwide and in New
Zealand, approximately 70% of divers throughout the world chose PADI.
Individual training center's are regularly audited by PADI to ensure that
their high standards are rigorously adhered to.
PADI
certification at the entry level is the 'open water' course, this qualification
enables you to dive anywhere in the world as it is globally recognized.
This course involves classroom and pool training followed by four openwater
dives over two days.

Next
comes the Advanced training which takes just a couple of hours in the
classroom followed by five sea dives. These dives can include deep dive,
night, multilevel, wreck, navigation, search and recovery, plus many other
options.
After
the advanced dive is the rescue diver course which trains you how to help
or rescue distressed divers. This is a good course to buy someone who
you dive with on a regular basis. I mean if you're in trouble wouldn't
you want your buddy knowing what to do? This course involves pool and
class work along with two days of dragging helpless victims up beaches
and onto boats. You will need either the PADI medical first aid certificate
or a similar (red cross etc.) before you finish this course
The
next step is becoming a Dive Master. This is the first step in becoming
a dive professional. The course involves pool and class work with the
option of assisting on a couple of open water courses to gain experience
at working with students. The timing of the course depends a lot on the
students themselves but the pool/class work is generally six to eight
evenings.
You
can find more about these courses at the PADI
courses web site.
